What is Alternative Medicine?

By Zach Thompson What is alternative medicine? This is a term used to describe the different forms of medicine other than conventional methods. Alternative medicine includes a wide variety of medical practices including non-European (non-Western) medical practices and will include some new approaches to medicine. There is also a term called complementary medicine. This is a combination of conventional medicine coupled with alternative medicine. With increasing research and new findings in medicine there is a universal rise in the Western nations of alternative medicine. In the Eastern part of the world, namely the Orient, some forms of alternative medicine has been practiced for many centuries. Part of this trend in the West may be due to the growth of medical education among people and the increased amount of travel to different regions. More literature is now available on this subject and medical societies specializing in different forms of alternative medicine are available. Some of the most common forms of alternate medicine are: Acupuncture Homeopathy Naturopathic medicine Osteopathy Acupuncture: this is an ancient art which had its origins in the Orient. It involves manipulating and inserting needles into special points in the body. It is thought to restore health and create well-being. There are several forms of acupuncture which are taught worldwide. This is one of the most famous forms of alternative medicine. Homeopathy: is a form of medicine that tries to stimulate the bodys immune system in order to promote healing. The practice of Homeopathy endeavors to bring the entire body back into homeostasis, or balance. Naturopathic medicine: Is a practice that is designed to stimulate the bodys own healing system. This system utilizes multiple forms of alternative medicine. It can also be referred to as Natural therapy, and can include dietary supplements, exercise and different foods. Osteopathy: Was originally a form of alternative medicine based on manipulation of the joints. It is still used for chronic back pain. It is often used with other forms of medicine. When treating illness and serious diseases it is important to consult your physician before taking any decisions. Many doctors will endorse some sort of alternative medicine coupled with conventional medicine, especially if conventional medicine is not proving very effective for a chronic condition. Despite the lack of credibilty given it by MD.s, some alternative medicine can work surprisingly well. It will all depend on your particular illness and your own bodys functionality whether alternative medicine will work well for you. Zach Thompson is a Glyconutrients Consultant. New Jersey Wedding Reception

By Randy Wilson A New Jersey Wedding Reception has much variety, elegance and grandeur to choose from for wedding couples. This would be even more pronounced if your budget for the wedding reception is large enough for engaging the best wedding reception venue that New Jersey has to offer. It would be advisable to scout around at other New Jersey wedding receptions in order to determine your choices. You will then have a good idea for the theme of your wedding reception. Do you want to host it at a prestigious city hotel? Would you want to have a grand and romantic wedding reception held in a manor or a mansion? How about a reception in a park with wide spaces of lush greenery? Whatever your choice may be, all of the above is possible for your wedding reception in New Jersey. All of these wedding reception locations are unique and distinctive, each of them with their own theme and specialties. In the end, the wedding couple should evaluate each of these venues based on their desires, their wedding reception budget, type of food served, service levels, ambience, elegance, decor and accessibility for visitors. For instance, food may be a problem as some venues may not have the right selections, so engaging an outside caterer may be an alternative as long as the venue management allows it. Other elements of a New Jersey wedding that needs to be taken into consideration would be the type of music as well as the choice of floral arrangements, wedding cake and wedding favors for the guests. If you are interested in having your wedding reception surrounded by lush greenery, then Park Savoy would be the perfect setting for your New Jersey wedding reception. The unique cobblestone pathways, European lanterns, exquisite gardens with a grand mansion, forms a perfect setting for the wedding ceremony. This coupled with a grand wedding reception either indoors within the mansion or outdoors amongst the gardens, fountains and lakes. Copyright Randy Wilson, All Rights Reserved. Death to the American, British & Jewish Peoples?

By David Ben-Ariel You’re getting paid for this nonsense right? – asks an internet forum poster flustered over my flurry of posts and participation found all over the web, as I am an e-vangelist whose coverage is ever expanding as God wills and Google reveals. It’s only nonsense to those who are either woefully ignorant of the Bible and history or who reject the plain truth they testify to and I teach. I am not getting paid but should be. Because for the life of me, I can’t work out why else you’d stick with it. Because I love you and seek to share what I wholeheartedly feel is important for the world to hear, not just hiding behind some podium or safely speaking to a converted audience but reaching out to everybody and hopefully I’ve only just begun as the Word must get out. And what better way, than to post the same tripe over and over at a website where everyone knows you’re nuts. If this is how you get the word out, you need more help than any of us can give. Yeshua said that if they called Him names and mocked His message we shouldn’t expect anything less. However, it is you who will need all the help that the Two Witnesses will give, live from Jerusalem. They will continue with this bittersweet message and offer hope and comfort to their CAPTIVE AUDIENCE. This is only the beginning of the THUNDER before the Storm, as Beyond Babylon will become a national debate and an international controversy. Expect full page newspaper ads, like Herbert W. Armstrong took out in The Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and other daily newspapers to reach everybody high and low, rich and poor, regardless of race or religion – the largest possible audience! You already know the message, as do many others now who have read what I’ve said repeatedly since so many are hard of hearing: the German-Jesuit EU will conquer the British-Israelites and Jews because God will use them to punish us for our idolatry and immorality. Such defeat, deportation and occupation will last 3 1/2 years and then Yeshua will return and reign and save us from our sins and our enemies. Yeshua is our Lord and our Savior, our Priest and our King – our physical and spiritual NATIONAL DELIVERER. Some will hear and heed now and save themselves from the unimaginable horrors about to be unleashed upon the world (by the German BEAST promoted by that false prophet pope), but many will die or go into NATIONAL CAPTIVITY where they will remember they were forewarned by men like me they merely found entertaining at the time (Ezekiel 33:28-33). Some will die “laughing,” grieved to say. This warning will be a witness to survivors and they’ll realize that the bitter part of the message they had mocked has actually come true and then they’ll be able to take comfort that the sweet part of the message – of NATIONAL DELIVERANCE and the Return of the King – will also come true. The Two Witnesses will emphasize that GOOD NEWS. This all serves a purpose, there’s a method behind the madness, whether or not you get it…now or later. Just remember the bittersweet message of Beyond Babylon: Europe’s Rise and Fall: Bitter message: Europe’s rise. We’ll suffer national defeat and deportation “beyond Babylon.” Sweet message: Europe’s fall. We’ll be restored to life “beyond Babylon.” David Ben-Ariel is a Christian-Zionist writer and author of Beyond Babylon: Europe’s Rise and Fall. With a focus on the Middle East and Jerusalem, his analytical articles help others improve their understanding of that troubled region. Check out the Beyond Babylon blog. Lawn and Garden Care – Simple Tips For Success

By Dean Shainin Lawn and garden care is something even the most inexperienced gardener can do. This article has some simple tips to follow for lawn and garden care. Simple steps provided below for virtually guaranteed success with your lawn and garden. Plan Your Lawn First The planning stage of lawn and garden care is actually easier said than done. Choose a layout for your lawn, one that allows you to mow without stopping or backing up. Choose The Right Type of Grass The type of grass is another important step in lawn and garden care. As much as possible, you want your lawn grass to be compatible with the soil in your region. After years of rendering lawn and garden care, we have found out that some grasses, such as Kentucky bluegrass, fescue, and ryegrass, prefer cool northern weather. Test The Soil Before Planting A soil test is the next most important aspect of lawn and garden care. Often, organic matter is recommended to increase the nutrient levels in soil. However, when it comes to achieving acid balance, lawn and garden care specialists recommend lime or sulfur to adjust the soils acidity. While grass does not need constant watering, water remains an essential component in its growth. Therefore, another significant aspect in lawn and garden care is a sprinkler system. One of the vital aspects of lawn and garden care is soil. There are different soil types and each type has a different watering need. Use the following lawn and garden tips to help you water your soil properly: Loosen the soil around plants so it can quickly absorb water and nutrients. Mulching as well as cultivating the soil helps reduce evaporation and soil erosion. If your lawn has clay soil, follow this lawn and garden care hint. Add organic material such as compost or peat moss. Till or spade to help loosen the soil. Since clay soil absorbs water very slowly, water only as fast as the soil absorbs the water. Lawn and garden care is a little different for sandy soil. Loam soil is the perfect soil for lawn and garden care. Ideal growing conditions are vital for lawn and garden care. Effective Watering Tips For excellent lawn and garden care, it is better to deep water your lawn than watering it several times lightly. Lawns need about 1 inch of water each week. However, if its sunny outside, apply the same amount of water every three days. If you want healthier root development for your lawn, watering it to a depth of 4 to 6 inches is an excellent lawn and garden care tip. Not only will grass really thrive, it also allows longer periods between watering. You can try this lawn and garden care trick for measuring the water. First, put an empty tuna or cat food can on the lawn while watering. Start watering the lawn. Stop watering when the can is full or if you notice water running off the lawn. These simple tips are very effective for having a great lawn and garden. Stop Backstitching When You Sew! Eliminate That “Homemade” Look!

By Marian Lewis When you sew, why do you backstitch when you begin and end a seam? Most of you backstitch because someone on your sewing learning path said you should do that to keep your seams from coming apart. Well, now, I want you to forget that reverse button and listen to some common sense stuff! When you backstitch, you go forward, back and forward again, right? That puts 3 layers of stitching at the beginning and end of every seam. Even if you back up straight, which is almost impossible to do, 3 layers of stitching creates a lot of bulk in these areas. This is really bad on thin, sheer fabrics and ugly, too. That part of the seam doesn’t open out flat or press well, either. It helps to make lumpy corners, too. Who needs lumpy corners? Gives the garment that “homemade” look! Yuk! OK, I can hear you say that you don’t backstitch. You either hand tie your threads or sink or drop a knot with your machine by stitching in place for several stitches. That’s fine, but then you trim the seam allowance down and cut off that knot, right? So why waste the time to tie or sink knots? So, you are asking, “What is the trick to keep seams from coming apart if you don’t backstitch?” Try this! It just makes sense! For about 1″ – 1-1/2″, begin and end all your seams with “short stitches.” Instead of pressing the reverse button to backstitch, set your stitch length down to make 18-20 short stitches per inch. On some machines, that is number 1. You will have to check it on yours. See below how to do that. Short stitches secure your seams and eliminate all bulk even after you trim the seam allowance. This makes much neater, flatter corners. Everyone wants flat corners, right? After you stitch the seam, press it open before you trim anything off the seam allowance. It is easier to press a wider seam allowance open than a tiny one. You won’t burn as many fingers that way. Besides, pressing seams open first will give you a much sharper, cleaner, more professional looking finish. All seams should be “sandwiched pressed” (both layers together) to set the stitches and then pressed open with the tip or point of the iron right along the stitching line, then pressed flat open. Notice, I said “pressed” – that’s a lifting, lowering motion – not “ironed” – that’s a sliding, stretching motion. Now, if the seam allowances are going to lay one on top of the other in the finished garment, you would then press them to one side. But, when your trim, make sure you trim one of the seam allowances a little less than the other one to create a staggered or layered effect. This is often called, “grading the seam allowance.” The wider seam allowance should always be the one that lays next to the outside of the garment. This greatly reduces bulk in seams. You can sometimes achieve this effect by angling your scissors when you trim both seam allowances together. I generally prefer to use my “duckbill” scissors for this job. Here is a tip if you don’t know where to find 18-20 stitches on your machine. To easily find out how many stitches per inch is represented by each number on your sewing machine’s stitch length indicator, try this technique: Thread your sewing machine with a dark colored thread. Pin 2 small pieces of light colored cotton broadcloth fabric together one on top of the other. You want the dark thread on the light fabric so you can see your stitches really well. You want 2 layers of fabric because your seams are usually made with 2 layers of fabric. Draw two 6″ long lines exactly 1″ apart on the top layer. Use a dark pen or pencil for this. It should be a thin line, not a wide, fat line. Set the stitch length on your sewing machine for the highest number. Example: No. 4 or 6 or whatever it is. Beginning about 1/2″ above the top line, stitch across the 2 lines and beyond the bottom line about 1/2″. Now, count the stitches between the 2 lines that are 1″ apart. Example: 8 stitches. Write the Stitch Length Machine Number (Example: 4) and the number of stitches per inch beside it (Example: 8). I write mine on the fabric test sample like this: #4=8. Move over on the fabric and select the next number on your machine and repeat the process until you are down to the lowest number. If you can’t see the stitches well enough to count them accurately, use a magnifying glass. Keep this test sample in your sewing notebook for reference. When you learn where your stitch length must be set to have 18-20 stitches per inch, make a note or mark it until you remember to reduce your stitch length each time you begin and end a seam. It will take a while to break your old habit of backstitching, but you will see better results with short stitches. Try it! It just makes sense! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= 2005 Marian Lewis All Rights Reserved 1st Step To Sewing Success Marian Lewis is a sewing instructor and the creator of an amazing new fitting method for hard-to-fit sewing folks. Taking the Kick Out of Coke

By Susan Scharfman The Coca-Cola Companys marketing genius over the past century has perpetuated an American myth, a horse and buggy Gilded Age saga formulated in a laboratory and shrouded in secrecy equal to that of the National Security Agency. The company would have us believe that a little known folksy pharmacist, Dr. John Stith Pemberton, while poring over his steaming cauldrons, created the mystery syrup in 1886 to which carbonated water was added and presto! The most famous soda fountain drink in the history of the world was born. In reality John Pemberton, a highly respected Atlanta businessman with an extraordinary gift for medical chemistry, imitated a French coca wine formula originally cooked up by a European chemist. Referring to it as an invigorator of the brain, Pemberton claimed it could cure a variety of ailments from indigestion to nervous disorders and sexual dysfunction. When the city of Atlanta introduced Prohibition in 1886, he substituted sugar syrup for the alcoholic wine and called it Coca-Cola. When Atlantas prohibition ended in 1887, he put the kick back in Coke, calling it French Wine Coca. With due respect to Dr. Pemberton, a severely wounded Civil War veteran addicted to morphine, whose bones rest in a Columbus, Georgia cemetery, if you dig up a Corsican fellow by the name of Angelo Mariani, you will uncover another chemist whose lifelong interests lay in various mind altering concoctions. Dig deeper and you will discover the truth about Coke, the birth and evolution of which the Coca-Cola Company has given very different sworn testimony. Although Angelo Mariani came from the mountainous island of Corsica, a dazzling uncut emerald in the Mediterranean, he decided to make Paris his home, and it is there he experimented with different coca leaves, which he imported from South America, green housing thousands of plants for his research. In the course of many drug-induced mind journeys, Mariani discovered that steeping the very purest of coca leaves in Bordeaux wine disguised the bitterness of the leaf, and produced an elixir he named Vin Mariani. The wine became the most popular tonic of Europes royals and aristocracy for three decades. Even our American President, Ulysses S. Grant imported it. And no wonder since it also contained pure Kola nut caffeine, which enhanced the effects of the cocaine. Hence, Mr. Mariani became a very rich man. Unfortunately for Pemberton, bad health and bad luck followed him to his grave. Prior to his death in 1888, he had engaged in some fuzzy maneuvering with a renowned entrepreneur who purchased the recipe for about $200. When the United States Eighteenth Amendment went into effect in 1920, national Prohibition nixed the use of alcohol and it was again removed from the formula. But the cocaine remained. In copying Marianis brainchild, John Pemberton had produced the soda fountain beverage that bears no resemblance to what is guzzled by the millions of gallons today. The original wine ingredients had always been a secret, and so too were those of Coca-Cola. If you ask the company when exactly the cocaine was removed (early in the 20th century), they will tell you it never existed. Where did the name come from? As for phosphoric acid content, I remember my father using Coke to clean his car engines. Youd have to be a Kola nut to believe company hyperbole, or hire multiple lawyers to challenge it and lose. Yet, because of its storybook mystique and widespread presence in the remotest backwaters of the planet, Coca-Cola remains today the most valuable liquid gold on earth. Seducing Women or Men Using The Elvis Presley Phenomenon

By Christine Akiteng The results are in, rhythmic brainpower is one of the most seductive kinds of intelligence there is! Researchers at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem studied the DNA from dancers and compared it with the genes of “tone deaf” people and people with two left feet. They found that musicians and dancers had key genes (the Serotonin Transporter and Arginine Vasopressin Receptor 1a) that played an important role in their particular personality type which includes traits such as having a heightened sense of communication, a sense of enjoyment and well-being, and strong spiritual awareness and traits. For me, this is exciting news because it just goes ahead to confirm why a good sense of rhythm is emphasized in indigenous cultures rites of passage to adulthood. Initiates are told that musician and dancers are some of the most desired sex partners because of their ability to communicate their inner primal nature and raw emotions in ways that move the rest of us. Initiates go through rigorous training to develop their rhythmic brainpower not just because a rhythmic body is great when it comes to sex, but because when your sense of rhythm is great (not just good) you can tune into another persons inner primal nature and raw emotions – make him/her oblivious to him/herself and forget his/her circumstances in life and take him/her into another place, not theirs, not your own, but somewhere else. This is a simple but powerful overlooked concept in modern societies. Many of us spend hours and hours on a date downloading stats, factual discussions, arguments, and proofs onto each other but still fail to leave an imprint on our dates. We fumble and lose our way in the web of verbalizing our emotionsnaming emotions, talking about feelings, or sharing our feelings but fail to transfer emotional information to another person. We fail to get on the same wavelength, keep up with the pace, engage in the dance of courtship etc. We are often either off beat or out of sync with the others inner primal nature and raw emotions. Call it the Elvis Presley phenomenon you too can leave an imprint that makes a man or woman want to become you, together with you not even death do you part by simply increasing your rhythmic brainpower. When you are in tune with your inner beat, you can then easily tune in to your dates or partners rhythm and rock his/her world! Check my websites for more information about seducing the opposite sex using the Elvis Phenomenon – invite interested partners with ease, move the man or woman you have your eyes on, make him or her feel what you feel, inspire him or her to want to come to you and become you. Mens Diamond Rings – The Ultimate Wedding Ring For The Modern Man

By Peter Leigh Mens diamond rings are becoming more and more popular with the modern man. As more men celebrate their marriage by the wearing of a wedding ring, mens diamond rings are fast becoming the new mens fashion. The wearing of a wedding ring by a man is a reasonably new phenomenon. It is only really since the second world war that the wearing of a wedding ring by a man became common. However it is taking off now, as are diamond mens rings. And there are different considerations for a mans wedding jewelry than for a woman. A man doesnt usually wear an engagement ring. A woman does. For a woman it is her engagement ring which is the feature on her finger. It is usually the engagement ring that is admired, not her wedding ring. And for this reason the woman will usually love a stunning diamond solitaire ring for her engagement ring, because a diamond solitaire is a ring to be admired! And the setting of the diamond solitaire is there really just to hold the diamond. The setting is not the feature, the diamond is. The setting is just there to show off the diamond to best advantage. So for a woman the choice of wedding ring needs to accommodate the fact that it should not overpower her engagement ring. Whilst there are some magnificent diamond wedding rings for women, they should always be more understated. Small diamonds, and with more of the impact of the ring coming from the ring itself rather than the diamonds. And if she has a magnificent engagement ring then there is no need for anything but a simple understated band for a wedding ring. But a man needs to approach his wedding ring quite differently, hence the popularity of diamond mens rings. Mens diamond wedding rings are larger and more noticeable than womens rings. And as there is no engagement ring, the diamonds go on his wedding ring. This is the only ring on his hands, perhaps the only jewelry that he will ever wear. So it needs to tell the world exactly who he is. Notwithstanding, it is not as common for men to wear a mens diamond ring with a single large stone as it is for women. Whilst solitaire rings are the most popular for women, men tend to select more diamonds, and smaller ones. For women, the setting is just the method of showing off the diamond. For men the setting, and the ring material, is an integral part of the appeal of the ring. Mens diamond rings are all about the ring and the diamonds together. Womens rings are about the diamonds. For this reason mens diamond rings often feature such modern ring materials as Titanium, Platinum, Stainless Steel or Carbon Fibre. Two tone yellow gold and white gold also looks great. These rings are also much wider than you would expect for a womans wedding ring. This is to make sure that a mans wedding ring is in keeping with a mans (normally) wider hand, and also to allow room for the features of the ring and to add the diamonds. Mens diamond wedding rings are much more ornate than a womans wedding ring. But the most important part is still the diamond or diamonds. A mens diamond ring with one or more stunning diamonds cannot be matched for style. It says volumes about the man. It makes a clear unambiguous statement that says Im married, and I can afford a fantastic diamond ring like this. Mens diamond rings are unequalled for style, class and flair. The modern married man should not be without one. How to Grow and Care for Fruit Trees and Shrubs

By Linda Peppin The introduction of container grown fruit trees and shrubs and the availability of dwarf varieties of apple, pear and cherry have meant that every gardener can now successfully grow most fruits in their own back gardens. Not all fruit is easy to grow and careful consideration should be given to the types and varieties suitable for your own location and conditions before making a final decision. Buying Fruit Trees Always buy your fruit trees from a reputable supplier. If you are confident in pruning then buy a one year old maiden whip. This has no laterals so will be cheap but you will need to train it yourself and it will be about three years before it produces a successful tree. Two and three year old trees have a basic framework to work with but will cost you more. Avoid buying trees older than four years as they can be hard to establish. Bare rooted trees will have to be planted in the autumn. When buying you are looking for a tree with good strong, evenly spaced branches without open buds. The main stem should be straight and the union strong and free from cracks. Roots should be well developed and spreading out in all directions. Remove any suckers growing from the rootstock. Container grown trees can be planted at any time. Growth should be strong and free of pests or disease. The main stem should be straight and the union strong and free from cracks. Roots should not be growing through the base or side of the pot and the surface of the soil should be clear of weeds and roots. Planting Fruit Trees Never plant a fruit tree where the same type has been planted previously. Bare rooted trees should be planted between early November and late March but ensure that the ground is not frozen or waterlogged. Dig the site a month before planting to aerate the topsoil and break up the subsoil. Remove weeds and add plenty of organic matter if the soil is particularly sandy or heavy. If your tree is not to be planted immediately then keep it in it’s packaging in a frost-free shed. Make up a planting mixture of one part top soil, one part compost and three handfuls of bone meal prior to planting. Bare Rooted Trees When ready to plant plunge the roots in a bucket of water for two hours and cut back any damaged or long roots to around 12ins. Fork over the bottom of the hole and form a small mound on which to place the roots. Insert a stake straight down to at least 12ins below the bottom of the planting hole and to the side of the prevailing wind. The stake should be about 3ins from the stem when the tree is planted. Dig a hole which is wide enough for the roots to spread out evenly and deep enough to keep the root union well above ground level. When planted the soil should reach to the old soil mark on the stem. Add a small amount of planting mixture and shake the plant to allow the mixture to get between the roots. Add more mixture and firm well around the roots without pressing too hard. Continue filling the hole leaving a mound around the stem and a shallow ring around the edge of the soil to help retain water. Fix a tie near the top of the tree and loosen it as the stem thickens. Container Grown Trees When ready to plant water the container thoroughly. Dig a planting hole large enough and deep enough to hold the soil ball plus 3-4ins of planting mixture. The top of the soil ball should be 1in below the soil surface after planting. Add 3-4ins of planting mixture into the base of the hole. Insert the tree into the hole and carefully cut off the container. Cut away any roots which may be circling the ball. Fill in around the sides of the plant with planting mixture and firm down with your hands. Leave a shallow basin at the surface of the soil to help retain water. Insert a stake into the soil on the side away from the prevailing wind at a 45 degree angle. Fix a tie and adjust as the stem thickens. Aftercare for Fruit Trees Once planted water your tree thoroughly and keep well watered until established. In the spring add a good layer of mulch around the tree. Spray the leaves during warm weather and remove all blossoms in the first spring. Check stake ties every year and loosen if necessary. Buying Soft Fruit Shrubs The basics of buying soft fruit are the same as for any fruit tree (see above). However, you must be particularly careful not to buy virus-infected stock, always go for certified stock when possible. There is a Certification Scheme for Strawberries, Raspberries, Blackcurrants, some Gooseberries and Red Currents. These plants have been inspected and passed by the Ministry of Agriculture as free from pests and diseases and are true to type. Planting Soft Fruit Shrubs Ideally grow your soft fruit in full sun away from strong winds. Most soils will do except those which are particularly sandy or poorly drained, also avoid sites under trees. Enrich all soils with well-rotted manure or compost before planting and feed each year after planting. Keep the site free of weeds. The basic planting rules are the same as for tree fruit (see above). Aftercare for Soft Fruit Shrubs Once planted water your soft fruit thoroughly and keep well watered until established. Add a 2 inch layer of mulch around each plant, avoiding the stems, and refresh after feeding each spring. Add a spring dressing of high-potash liquid fertiliser each year to ensure good crops that year and good growth for the following year. When fruits begin to swell use a foliar feed. Air Mattress Pumps: Factors to Consider

By Teve Torbes Air mattress pumps are crucial to making your air bed functional. Sometimes they are sold with the bed. Often, youll have to buy a separate one. This article will provide a number of tips for selecting which air mattress pump you need. What kind of pump should I buy? This is the first question you should ask yourself. Air mattresses have essentially two kinds of pumps: manual pumps and electric pumps. Manual pumps can be advantageous if you are camping or going somewhere that does not have available electricity. These will generally involve either hand pumps or footpads. However, these pumps will be extremely slow in filling up the air bed. If time is a factor, you should probably select an electric pump for the mattress. Many electric pumps can fill up an air bed in as little as a minute. Does my air mattress come with a pump? If you havent already purchased an air bed, research it to determine whether or not a pump is included. Many will include cheap, manual pumps and it might be worth it to upgrade so that you can use it in a hurry. Others dont come with a pump at all, so you need to make sure that you have bought one before you head out. Traveling without an air pump will mean that your air mattress is useless. Is the air pump useful for anything else? Many air pumps are not simply used for air mattresses – if youre going camping, you might be using other inflatable things besides an air bed. There are many recreational items that require an air pump: some kayaks, rafts, pool toys, etc. will need one. If you already have an air pump, you should test it out on the air mattress before you leave. If you dont, make sure that you buy an air pump that is compatible with the other items youll be using.
